To develop knowledge and skills to effectively
meet the physical and social and emotional
needs of school aged children in home based
child care.

Range of Variables
1 This module could be delivered either
through an open learning mode or in a group
learning context.
2 The deliverer must be familiar with the
module requirements of Caregiving Practices
(5-12 Years) SFP and ensure that the
delivery of this module fully prepares
students for the practical skills of that
module.
3 Delivery of this module must emphasis the
principle that nurturing is an essential
aspect of the carer's role and must be
meaningful to children and appropriate to
their stage of development. It should also
reinforce the uniqueness and individuality
of all children.
4 Students (who are not geographically
isolated) should participate in a site visit
to observe quality practice as part of the
delivery of this module.
