To expose students to a wide range of
leisure/recreation options and enable
them to choose to pursue some of these
options.

Try to ensure these topics are
included:-

- What led to the involvement in sport, who (coach/teacher/ colleague)
what (early success/dislike of school) were important early influences. Were
there any major hurdles/difficulties (e.g. physical disability/illness or
discrimination)
- What have been the highlights (exciting times, important
personal events).
- Have there been any times you felt like giving up - effect
on family, work, other interests - how resolved.
- What has been the effect on your lifestyle e.g. special
diet - drugs/alcohol - exercise programme - social life?
- What advice would you give to someone who was just
"starting out" or who is thinking, "it's too late to start now"?

* Could substitute someone with keen interest in outdoor recreation/a
particular leisure interest.

After involvement in learning and practising a particular
sport/game/recreation activity (indoor or outdoor),
describe the development of your:

- knowledge and/or
- skills and/or
- attitude/personal qualities.

Outline what you knew or how you were, prior to the
learning activity(s).
Describe how the learning took place (e.g. by
hearing/seeing/watching/
doing/being mistaken/repeating, etc.).

Identify what was learnt: seek opinions from others (other
students/teachers/family members) about how you might have
changed personally or the level of proficiency of skill
achieved.

Conclude by suggesting how this learning might be
transferred to another situation.

Present a written, more detailed report for assessment (2

Personal recreation profile.

Prepare a schedule of all activities on a 24 hour basis
over 3 separate weeks of the semester. Identify time spent
on active and passive recreation/leisure. Say whether this
changed during the semester. Suggest what other activities
might change if more time was spent on recreation. What
might have to change before more time could be spent on
recreation. 30%

NOTE: If above topics were not selected to be covered in class,
alternative assessment strategies may be substituted.
