Description
To provide competency based training for wool pressers in the range of skills
required to work in a commercially operating wool harvesting shed.

To be able to perform the wool presser duties and pen sheep and will have the
skills and knowledge to be employable as wool pressers in wool sheds and wool
stores in Australia.

Assessment will be on the job by practical demonstration.

Learners are required to demonstrate a range of practical skills carried out by
wool pressers on the job. These skills are described in the Wool Classing
Skills Record Book and will be assessed by the qualified workplace assessor.

The learner will demonstrate procedures at mob cut-out time.

For the learner to demonstrate achievement of the learning outcomes, it is
essential that all duties/competencies be performed as required for a minimum
of 16 hours (2 days) while working at a rate equivalent to 600 sheep per day.
No period can be less than 4 consecutive runs.

To achieve these learning outcomes, learners will require:

- access to a wool press
- woolpacks
- wool
- a working shearing shed.
