Joint Examining Board Examinations

Section 1 - Assessment

Part A - Theory

An examination paper lasting for 1 hour + 10
minutes' reading time. The candidate must answer
EIGHT questions from a choice of ten requiring brief
answers (one or two short paragraphs) carrying 5
marks each.

Part B

An examination paper lasting for 1 hour + 10
minutes' reading time. The candidate must answer
ONE COMPULSORY question covering Competence 1 and a
choice of TWO further questions from three covering
Competence 2. Each question carries 20 marks.

Section 2 - Applied Principles of Teaching

Part A - Project

Candidates are required to submit a project to
include a scheme of work for a course of
approximately 30 hours in Word Processing, and
lesson plans for two of the lessons within the
scheme. The project should cover 3 hours' students learning materials,
which could be used by the candidate in the teaching situation. The 3 hours
form a continuous part of the course and candidates should state clearly the
course, type of students, students' ages, how many hours per week/weeks in
length of the course, at what point their lessons occur and what form the final
assessment will take. Thus it will form a complete learning package on a topic
to be agreed between the course tutor and the candidate.

Part B

An examination paper lasting for 1 hour + 10
minutes' reading time. Candidates must answer TWO
questions from a choice of four. Each question
carries 20 marks.

Candidates must achieve at least 60% of the total
marks available in order to pass Part B.
