Determine current community attitudes and perceptions of people living with dementia
  • 1.1 Use reflection to determine own and societal stereotypes towards people living with dementia
  • 1.2 Determine factors influencing attitudes towards dementia
  • 1.3 Determine interactions that diminish dignity and independence
  • 1.4 Analyse the impact of labelling and language on people living with dementia
  • 1.5 Analyse media representation of people living with dementia
  • 1.6 Analyse the impact of courtesy stigma on family and friends
Determine a model of care that improves the image of dementia
  • 2.1 Determine barriers for people living with dementia to participate in activities within their community
  • 2.2 Analyse suitability of organisation or community settings for people living with dementia
  • 2.3 Review organisation and community service provider criteria for participation in activities and support services
  • 2.4 Research ways to address stigma, bias and discrimination associated with people living with dementia
  • 2.5 Consult with key stakeholders to determine language, labelling and practices that contribute to stigma for the person living with dementia
  • 2.6 Select a model of care that overcomes the determined deficits in organisations and community settings
  • 2.7 Develop an action plan, based on the model of care selected, to overcome deficits in organisations and community settings
  • 2.8 Ensure the action plan meets policy and procedure, regulatory standards and compliance
