Description
Through a series of lectures,
assignments and agency visits, students
will develop a knowledge of the
description and emotive connotations of
the term "poverty". The course aims to
enable students to answer the
questions: who are the poor, why are they poor, what it feels like to be
poor, what is being done to alleviate poverty and what should be done?
Students will also be expected to have a good knowledge of those services and
benefits available to the poor through Federal, State and Local Government as
well as the non-government sector.
