Description
To provide riders with the knowledge and skills required for active riding at a
preliminary level, and introduction to advanced riding skills in dressage and
jumping.

The rider is required to demonstrate competency in each of the learning
outcomes in line with the assessment method shown.
These include:
-Written tests
-Written assignments.
Riders will be required to keep a log book/diary detailing all hours of
practical riding during the course (anticipated to be approximately 100 hours).
Riders must also complete a skills list including all practical skills required
by the assessment criteria.
Assessment will be a combination of both industry and TAFE related aspects of
the course.
Assessment will be a combination of off-the-job and on-the-job or a combination
of both.
The practical skills list must be assessed and signed by a qualified EFA coach
(minimum NCAS Level 2 or approved equivalent).
Riders will demonstrate the ability to apply effective aids and control the
horse in specified situations at basic paces. The horse is required to accept
the bit and move calmly forward and straight.
