NOTE: Field Project Module may not be undertaken until learner has
achieved all the learning outcomes from all Stage One “off-the-job” modules
in 9706 Diploma of Human Services.

Delivery of Field Project module, whilst it must be “on-the-job”, should be
flexible enough to meet the varied needs of a wide range of service types and
settings and of different categories of learner.

In future the Field Project module may be offered through Flexible Delivery and
assessed by accredited workplace providers and assessors.

NOTE: The number of hours spent “on site” in the field placement
agency may vary according to the Project undertaken, eg some time may be spent
off site in Project related research or data collection

Arrangements for recording hours should be negotiated between learner and
agency.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Provision will be made for learners to apply for exempt

Internal Assessment 100%

A combination of “on-the-job” assessment based on feedback from the field
placement agency and written reports by the learner on the planning,
implementation and evaluation of a major practical project will be used.

Learning Outcome 1 will be assessed by the production of a detailed needs
analysis related to the agency/organisation.

Learning Outcomes 2, 3 and 4 will be assessed by:

- the production of a project plan, evaluation strategy and timelines
- continual monitoring by field supervisors and fieldwork lecturers.

Note:

- Practical and written components must be achieved for completion of
this module.
- Learners may be given opportunity to re-submit or repeat components of
this module within the delivery timeframe.
- Learners who do not complete all components of this module within the
delivery timeframe may be required to re-enrol.
- Field Placement agency, in consultation with the Field Co-ordinator
and learner, will choose from a wide range of project options.
- The project will be chosen to fit the needs and constraints of the
setting and the interests and experience of the learner.
- Field Placement agency and Fieldwork Lecturer will co-operate to
assess the project.
- In some cases it may not be possible for a learner to fully implement
a project. Where this occurs, a detailed report on the project work completed
may be accepted for assessment purposes. This will be negotiated between
college, agency and learner.
- Care will be taken to maintain ethical practices and a high level of
accountability.
- The rights and dignity of agency clients will take precedence
throughout all aspects of the project.
- The field placement agency will provide feedback about the learner’s
performance as part of the assessment of the project assignment.

The learner will be provided with:

- Placement totalling 360 hours within an organisation, agency or
program providing human services.
- Access to staff and clients of the agency.
- Access to opportunities for involvement in the day-to-day work of the
agency.
- Access to information associated with planning, monitoring and
developing the work of the agency.
- Access to a staff member within the agency who has experience in and
knowledge of management.
- Access to a fieldwork lecturer with experience and skills in
supervising and assessing learners in human services at this level.
- Access to Field Seminar module sessions and materials.
- Access to Field project manual.
- Access to information about assessment requirements and criteria.
