Description
To provide students, studying the
Certificate of Preparatory Studies,
with the option of gaining a broad
understanding of health issues/health
problems which concern them, and
Australians, generally.

To encourage students to develop a
healthy lifestyle.

To enable students to identify ways in
which they, as individuals, can
contribute towards overcoming
environmental problems.

To enable students to investigate areas
of health, which are of particular
interest to them.

To provide a practical focus to health
education, through visits,
demonstrations, "hands-on" experiences.

Short written tests on each of the
seven topics.

Project 20%

Students to research individually, or
in groups, a health issue of interest
to them. A short written report and
talk will be presented. This must
include:

- description (of an illness, health problem)
- causal/contributing factors
- summary of services/resources available.

Attendance and
Participation 10%

The lecturer will keep a record of
student's attendance and class
participation.
