Description
To provide a basic health course for people working with people with
disabilities.

To provide knowledge of First Aid for injuries and illnesses likely to be
encountered with people who are frail, aged or have a disability.

To enable students to achieve a recognised First Aid qualification.

Internal Assessment

Resuscitation Practical Demonstration 10%

Students who fail the resuscitation demonstration must repeat this until they
have passed.Pass/Fail

Resuscitation Theory Test 20%

Multiple choice, short answer.
A pass mark of 80% is required.

Safety Assignment 15%

Related to drug administration and client safety factors.

First Aid Situation 10%

A first aid simulation exercise in class.

Class Test 45%

A multiple choice short answer paper.

Students must pass all sections of the assessment.

Students who complete this subject can, on application to the relevant
authority, be awarded a recognised First Aid qualification if the subject has
been taught by a person with current First Aid qualifications.
