Description
This unit will provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to assist in the formulation of an environmental management system (EMS) that meets the requirements of AS/NZS ISO 14001. Neither should it be interpreted that this competency implies the students should develop an entire EMS and audit it - that is not possible in the timeframe set aside for this module. However, it is possible to provide sufficient "base" tasks and activities that will be readily useful within the workplace.
It should also be recognised that the development of an EMS is a task that takes some time and is carried out by a team. It can be undertaken by people working directly for the organisation seeking to implement the ems or by outside consultants overseeing this task for a particular client.
