To develop the ability to read and
write music in relation to pitch and
rhythm.

To develop the ability to write major scales and understand scale degrees,
intervals and chords in relation to the scales concerned.

To be able to appreciate and understand
the main features and composers of the
Baroque and Classical periods.

Written test on transposition of notes
an octave higher and lower.
Written test on ties, slurs,

Test 3:
Written and aural test on simple duple,
triple and quadruple
time with and without an
anacrusis 10%

Test 4:
Written and aural test on sharps,
flats, naturals, tones
and semitones.

Test 5:
Major scales with and without key
signature, major scale
patterns and degrees (written).
Aural test on intervals within the
major scale 10%

Test 6:
Written test on Italian words, verse
analysis, form and
work covered in Music Studies A 10%
