Description
To introduce the molecular basis of information storage and processing in the
cell, including nucleic acid chemistry structure and function, the molecular
nature and organisation of genes, and gene expression and control.
To provide the foundation skills for further modules in Recombinant DNA
Techniques and Tissue Culture.
To complement other modules such as Immunology and Haematology I, II and III.

Range of Variables
This module is intended for delivery off-the-job.
The module is intended for delivery as an integrated theory practical class
over one semester, to ensure adequate time for concept development and
intermodule reinforcement.
Where delivery is by block release, learners will require prior access to open
learning materials and the minimum time required to complete the module will
depend on the minimum time to complete the practical exercises.
