Description
To provide a framework which integrates and
underpins all aspects of the students' musical
training, viz: performance, theoretical knowledge,
listening, communication and personal commitment.
To provide the opportunity for students to develop
ensemble skills which will enable their competent,
professional participation in the industry.
To encourage the student to give and receive
constructive feedback in a group situation.
To encourage the student to submit original
arrangements for performance by the group.

Group preparation and performance of three pieces of
music in contrasting styles.
End-of-course test. 75%
Group preparation and performance of five pieces of
music, in contrasting styles, of which the examiner
will choose three for performance.
Assessment to include individual performances and
evidence of teamwork and rapport within the
ensemble.
Arrangement/preparation of band parts. 25%
Continuous assessment of individual input and band
collaboration towards arrangements.
In order to achieve a pass, students must
successfully accomplish all components of
assessment.
