This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to develop a sound knowledge of the contexts of traditional performance and the canon of contemporary Australian Indigenous works/repertoire.
It requires the ability to develop an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander performance works. Researching and presenting historical information whilst connecting and incorporating it into the performance.
The unit applies to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with little or no practical experience in Indigenous Australian theatre research and discusses the context of history and how it influences contemporary Indigenous performance.
The unit applies to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander actors in the performing arts industry.
No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
