Competency Based Assessment


Normally learning will take place within the classroom or suitable study environment but participants should have exposure to typical installations illustrating the segregation and separation requirements and techniques. The practical competencies shall be assessed at installation in the work environment or simulated work environment.

The trainer through observing the student will make an assessment of how the student performs skills and applies knowledge to complete the work activities.

The student will be required to display practical skills which may involve carrying out a specific task or procedure.

The student will be required to produce a structured written document, demonstrating problem solving capabilities.

The student will be required to participate in a structured assessment exercise involving the organisation and achievement of a specific task which is resource based and which seeks to stimulate real life situations.

The trainer will assess the student's work samples to assess the quality and performance of the task and the application of appropriate skill.

The student will be required to study a diagram, a paragraph of text, a picture, a plan etc. and answer a number of related questions.

The student will be required to answers for a collection of questions in a few words.

The student will provide the answers to a selection of questions of no more than a few words.
