Description
To introduce students to the theoretical foundations
of statistical inference.

To provide students with knowledge of important
statistical techniques which are used in forecasting
trends.

To give students an outline of alternative statistical techniques.

To pass in this subject, students must gain at least
40% in both the internal assessment and examination
component, as well as an aggregate mark of at least
50%.

Marks CANNOT be carried over to subsequent semesters, except in the case of a
deferred examination.

Internal Assessment

A project in which the student is required to
analyse "real" data, using at least two distinct
statistical techniques. 20 marks

A one hour class test on Topics 1-4 15 marks

A one hour class test on Topics 5-9 15 marks
