Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to build the personal confidence needed to operate as an effective member of the community.

It requires the ability to review and plan for building personal competency in relation to self-esteem, healthier lifestyle, personal presentation, personal safety and maintaining living spaces. It includes investigating options for addressing personal problems, dealing with change, and advocating for self.

The unit applies to vulnerable young people who need personal skills to participate effectively in the community. Gaining these skills assists them to build the sense of self-worth and personal vision needed to achieve independence and social inclusion, and ultimately, enabling engagement with education, training and employment.
