Description
To provide learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely conduct
analyses involving x-ray diffraction and fluorescence.
Range of Variables
This module is to be provided off-the-job. Delivery can be effected by a
variety of modes. Regardless of delivery mode, the minimum time to complete
this module is four weeks to ensure adequate time for skill acquisition and
inter-module reinforcement. Learners should anticipate up to an additional two
hours per week to cover assignments, reports and general revision.

As this module has a significant laboratory component, delivery strategies must
ensure integration of knowledge and laboratory skills. In adopting a
particular delivery strategy, it is important to establish the entry
characteristics (particularly employment status) of the learners. Learners with
concurrent workplace experience should be considered for recognition of prior
learning, and teaching strategies adjusted accordingly. For example, learners
already employed in the industry should require less practical supervision than
full-time lear
