To provide learners with:
Module 1: Introduction to Industry
- A detailed awareness of the historical, recent and emerging trends in
the Building and Construction Industry.
- A practical knowledge of the scope of work covered by various areas of
the Building and Construction Industry.
- A practical understanding of the requirements for entry into various
areas of the Building and Construction Industry.
Module 3: Workplace Organisation and Structures
- An ability to identify the role of various workplace structures:
Management, Employer/Employee organisations, Unions and advisory/regulatory
bodies.
- An ability to identify the role of various workplace entities and
organisations: Levels of management; role of managers, subcontractors,
builders, etc on sites and in various sectors.
- A detailed knowledge of the role of employer organisations in the
Building and Construction Industry.
- A detailed knowledge of the role of trade unions in the Building and
Construction Industry.
- An ability to identify the rights and obligations incumbent on
employer organisations and trade unions with respect to their members.
