Description
To provide the learner with the necessary advanced knowledge and skills to
assist a qualified person in the administration and maintenance of anaesthesia
in animals.
Range of Variables
This module may be delivered in a classroom equipped with the necessary clinic
or simulated clinic facilities, using a combination of lecture and practical
activities. Delivery will be off-the-job and may include face-to-face methods,
self-paced or student-centred learning. Skills practice will take place
on-the-job and will be assessed by independent assessors and employers.

Competence will be assessed under each assessment criteria given for each
learning outcome and according to the stated conditions.

Assessment methods may include:

- observation, demonstration, written and/or oral questioning, written
and/or oral presentations or assignments set to specified criteria and
timelines.

Assessment may be conducted for each individual learning outcome if
appropriate, but where possible a holistic assessment method is preferred. The
processes may be conducted individually or in a team environment, and to
conditions set and clearly defined by the provider or workplace trainer.

This module may be delivered in a classroom with the necessary clinic or
simulated clinic facilities. The learner will have access to:

- A classroom or other suitable learning environment
- A variety of animal housing
- Small animal patients in a classroom clinic and in a veterinary
practice
- Anaesthetic machine
- Anaesthetic drugs
- Anaesthetic emergency equipment.
