Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to develop the social competence needed to operate as an effective member of the community.

It requires the ability to identify effective ways of communicating with others, identify sources of assistance for self and others, share personal belongings and communal facilities and participate in groups and the community.

The unit applies to vulnerable young people who need social skills to participate effectively in the community. Gaining these skills assists them to build the sense of self-worth and personal vision needed to achieve independence and social inclusion, and ultimately, enabling engagement with education, training and employment.

No occupational licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
