Description
To provide participants at the stage of initial literacy acquisition with the ability to relate the spoken word to written language, thus enabling to lead into reading and writing.
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
- read and identify letters of the alphabet in the context of whole words, signs and symbols relating to personal details and immediate environment;
- produce a Language Experience piece for scribing by the tutor

Range of Variables
This module will be delivered by a trained tutor for the "Read Write Now!" program (formerly known as the Volunteer Tutor Scheme) for a minimum of 1-2 hours per week and in a locale which offers the learner a relaxed non-threatening environment. Delivery will be available in a number of flexible modes including one-to-one, small group tuition, independent work supported by tutor contact and a combination of the above.
Tutors delivery this module will be required to have a minimum qualification of Certificate III Volunteer Tutoring in Adult Literacy and Numeracy.
