Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required for culturally appropriate, unscripted, and spontaneous, routine verbal communication in social contexts when working with people who use a language other than English.
“Culturally appropriate” refers to verbal and non-verbal communication that is sensitive to cultural difference and avoids misunderstanding or offence.
”Routine” refers to communication that occurs in familiar and unfamiliar social contexts.
The outcomes described in this unit relate to:
- the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) descriptors at levels A2 - B1
- the International Second Language Proficiency Rating (ISLPR) at level 2+/3
This unit applies to individuals who interact with people who speak a language other than English.
No occupational licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification
