Description

To introduce learners to the nature, composition, classification and distribution of various soil types and to assess residential scale footings
systems in accordance with relevant Australian standards.

Range of Variables

This module will require instruction incorporating on-site observations and laboratory examinations.

The learner will be provided with:

- Site visits and examination of laboratory hand
specimens

- Access to maps and relevant aids

- Laboratory examination of soil specimens

- Access to Australian Standard AS2870.1 and
AS2870.2 Residential Slab and Footings Code

- Access to sites where active clays are located
