Description
To develop a knowledge of common heath and forest
formations of Western Australia.
To develop an understanding of the ecology of these
formations.
To gain skill in using laboratory and field techniques and apparatus to
classify common plant species.
To identify and know the role, habitat,
characteristics and economic importance of a range
of Australian plant families, and the most important
genera and species within those families.
To foster positive attitudes towards continuing
interest in identifying the components of plant
communities.
To gain an appreciation of the sources of reference material available to
assist with plant identification.
To gain experience in the use of keys for plant
identification.
