Description
To provide learners with the knowledge of drug related behaviours, the effects
of specific drugs and drug related problems to both the user and society.
To provide learners with an understanding of the reasons why people use drugs.

Range of Variables
DELIVERY
1 The module is intended to prepare participants to recognise the wide
useage of drug substances in the general community. The attitudinal aspect of
this unit makes it essential that the delivery provides for discussion to allow
exploration of arising personal and community values and attitudes.
2 The delivery of this module must be presented to promote the
development of a non-judgemental attitude by participants towards users of
substances.
3 This module could be delivered in an open learning mode or in a group
learning situation. It is considered that some group learning would be
essential because of the need for discussion regarding values and attitudes.
4 Assessment methods for this module are to be completed both in and out
of lecture times.
