Description
To develop skills in the collection, analysis, and assessment of environmental
data involving water, air, soil/sediment and/or biota samples.
data involving water, air, soil/sediment and/or biota samples.
Range of Variables
This module is designed for on or off-the-job delivery.
The module can stand alone if learners have sufficient skills on entry.
Otherwise, it should be undertaken at the end of any study program when
learners have had the maximum opportunity to develop relevant analytical skills.
At least 75% of the module’s duration should be devoted to performing
practical exercises and project/s. The role of practical exercises is to
further develop the skills acquired elsewhere using the context of
environmental analysis. Project work provides the opportunity for the learner
to demonstrate that he/she can integrate and apply these skills in the solution
of an unfamiliar problem.
Projects should require measurements and involve real (or if necessary,
simulated) work-based problems. This will necessitate the early identification
of suitable environmental issues; feasible problems and the equipment required; (CR
