This unit describes the skills and knowledge required for developing and performing character in screen-based performance. This involves developing skills in devising, realisation and performance of character for various roles.
The unit applies to actors who use characterisation skills within screen performance. They research, explore and develop character in a range of dramatic narrative contexts. At this level, performers are expected to apply imaginative and collaborative practices when preparing for and performing character on screen.

- 1.1 Prepare vocally and physically for characterisation through warm up techniques
- 1.2 Discuss principles of characterisation for screen-based acting performance with relevant personnel
- 1.3 Research different approaches to character on screen
- 1.4 Confirm the creative and technical parameters for the character-based improvisations
Workshop and build character for screen performance
- 2.1 Experiment with character for performance using practice and rehearsal sessions
- 2.2 Test and work creatively with interactions between various characters in workshops and rehearsals
