Description
This course is designed to provide individuals with language skills and intercultural knowledge to enable them to communicate routine information in social and workplace situations in a language other than English, both in Australia and overseas. The course applies to all languages - the specific language to be acquired will depend on student demand at the time of provision.
Packaging Rules
To be awarded the 11074NAT Certificate III in Applied Language, a participant is required to successfully complete each of the four units listed within the qualification, for the same language. To achieve the qualification, the following four units must be completed:

- NAT11074001 Conduct routine oral communication for social purposes in a language other than English
- NAT11074002 Conduct routine workplace oral communication in a language other than - English
- NAT11074003 Read and write routine texts for social purposes in a language other than English
- NAT11074004 Read and write routine workplace texts in a language other than English

Entry Requirements
Participants should have numeracy and literacy skills at least equivalent to those specified by level 2 of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF), which are defined as:

Reading and writing
The participant should be able to read and comprehend a range of simple texts and write a range of short texts in a number of contexts, which may be interrelated.

Oral communication
The participant should be able to use and respond to language around every day subject matter, which may include some unfamiliar aspects for a range of purposes in a number of contexts, which may be interrelated.

Numeracy and mathematics
The participant should be able to deal easily with straightforward calculations, either manually or using a calculator.

For entry into the full 11074NAT Certificate III in Applied Language, participants must have successfully completed all four units of the 10949NAT Certificate II in Applied Language or can demonstrate equivalent competencies.
