A minimum of 18 years is applied to persons wishing to enter this industry. To obtain a Heavy Rigid licence to operate machinery, a person needs to be over 20 years of age.

This training program is a representation of the qualification code MNM30406 taken from the Metalliferous Mining Training Package MNM05 which should be consulted for full description of requirements. MNM05 is endorsed until 31 January 2008.
