Description
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to select and use industry relevant technologies suited to the task. It covers skills to evaluate the use of current technology, and to identify and evaluate emerging technologies which will enhance service delivery.This unit applies to any type of sport, fitness, aquatic or recreation organisation including commercial, not-for-profit, community and government organisations. It applies to a range of individuals, working at different levels of responsibility, who use industry relevant technology to support the delivery of sport, fitness, aquatic and recreation services.The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Use industry-specific technology.
- 1.1. Determine required industry-specific technology according to task requirements.
- 1.2. Use features and functions of industry-specific technology according to task requirements and organisational conditions of use.
- 1.3. Use organisational technology and procedures to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- 1.4. Solve common operating problems according to manufacturer instructions.
2. Use monitoring equipment.
- 2.1. Use monitoring equipment according to legal obligations and industry standards of ethical practice.
- 2.2. Download data from monitoring device and store for ease of retrieval.
- 2.3. Interpret data and explain results clearly and concisely to relevant others.
3. Use recording technology.
- 3.1. Determine the purpose and value of capturing audio visual recording and obtain required permissions from participants.
- 3.2. Identify and use equipment and techniques for obtaining the best quality visual and audio recording according to manufacturer instructions.
- 3.3. Use software applications to import and edit recorded content.
- 3.4. Share recorded content with relevant individuals.
4. Maintain technology equipment.
- 4.1. Complete routine maintenance and store equipment safely according to manufacturer instructions.
- 4.2. Report faulty equipment according to organisational procedures.
5. Evaluate emerging industry relevant technology.
- 5.1. Identify and evaluate technology currently used for service delivery.
- 5.2. Source and interpret technical information on new or improved industry relevant technology.
- 5.3. Evaluate ways in which emerging technology can be used to improve service delivery.
- 5.4. Recommend suitable technology alternatives or improvements which will enhance service delivery.
