Description
This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to receive all types of waste for processing and treatment. It covers preparing for waste receipt by reviewing schedules and identifying and organising the site, personnel and equipment required to assist the receipt of waste. It also covers coordinating and monitoring unloading activities to assess the suitability of designated unloading areas for adequate storage capacity, and to ensure waste containment. The unit requires the ability to screen waste to identify waste types and characteristics, and to identify and handle waste non-conformances. It also requires the ability to discuss the nature of the required service with the waste provider, and to provide them with instructions and signals to assist the safe and effective unloading of waste. The unit requires calculating and recording fees and charges and issuing receipts for payments.The unit supports those who work under limited supervision in a waste management team.No licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this unit of competency at the time of endorsement.
