Description
This unit of competency describes the outcomes required to unload, sort and store materials, in the pulp and paper industry. The unit applies to production support operators who unload and store materials, in a pulp or paper manufacturing facility.No licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Conduct unloading processes
- 1.1. Identify work requirements, in accordance with productivity requirements, relevant workplace health and safety (WHS) procedures, risks and hazards identification and environmental workplace procedures.
- 1.2. Check, set up and prepare load shifting equipment for operation.
- 1.3. Inspect load for movements and determine safest unloading sequence.
- 1.4. Lift materialsand unload while maintaining load and equipment stability.
- 1.5. Report damage to raw materials, equipment, or vehicle according to company procedures.
- 1.6. Monitor load or vehicle lifting equipment performance for unsatisfactory or hazardous operation.
2. Sort and store materials
- 2.1. Identify materials and assess for immediate use or storage.
- 2.2. Move materials to appropriate storage locations consistent with type, quality and stock rotation requirements.
- 2.3. Construct stacks to provide stability and minimise problems.
- 2.4. Make provision for decks, storage bays and access for lifting equipment when storing.
3. Record or tally unloading operations data
- 3.1. Confirm and record materials.
- 3.2. Mark storage areas, as required.
- 3.3. Maintain tally sheets and/or reject stock documentation, as required.
