Description
This unit covers skills and knowledge to map and establish a supply chain process for a textiles, clothing or footwear (TCF) operation.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Identify supply requirements
- 1.1 Projected requirements regarding TCF stock supplies, product quantities, quality and delivery schedules are confirmed.
- 1.2 Identified issues and problems concerning projected requirements are documented.
- 1.3 Resources, supply requirements, availability of machines and personnel are identified and confirmed.
- 1.4 Regular and occasional supply needs are identified and conditions documented
- 1.5 The flow rate for each category of TCF product is determined
2 Determine enterprise requirements for suppliers
- 2.1 Business conditions for supply arrangements are established in consultation with senior management
- 2.2 Specifications for raw materials, products and production processes are confirmed
- 2.3 Testing procedures are established to confirm product and material quality
- 2.4 Import and export rules and regulations for international sources are analysed to determine effect on supply conditions
- 2.5 Communication and documentation protocols are established
3 Establish supply chain process
- 3.1 Specific information relating to TCF supply chain capacity is obtained and confirmed.
- 3.2 Internal processes are established to ensure receipt and supply of TCF products meet enterprise conditions, quality standards and resource requirements
- 3.3 Purchasing organisation's viability is assessed through the collection and analysis of information
- 3.4 Terms of payment offered by each buyer are obtained, negotiated for advantage and analysed for impact on finances.
- 3.5 Ongoing research is conducted to assess new trends and conditions that may influence supply and demand in the TCF industry
4 Establish on going monitoring arrangements for the supply chain
- 4.1 TCF Production planning records are maintained and reports prepared to ensure supply information is accurate and current
- 4.2 Performance indicators are analysed to assess supply efficiency
- 4.3 Action is taken to remedy poor performance areas
- 4.4 Strategies to ensure positive performance are incorporated into the TCF supply chain plan
