Description
This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to refuel vehicles and equipment from packaged fuel within a field environment or small temporary field refuelling site.It includes preparing, conducting and finalising field refuelling operations.This unit applies to Defence personnel working in fuelling operations but could apply to persons working in a similar environment.The skills and knowledge described in this unit must be applied within the legislative, regulatory and policy environment in which they are carried out. Organisational policies and procedures must be consulted and adhered to.Persons undertaking this unit work under supervision and perform specific tasks in a range of contexts.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Prepare for refuelling operations
- 1.1 Inspect equipment for serviceability and prepare for operation in accordance with manufacturer specifications and operational procedures
- 1.2 Establish refuelling site
- 1.3 Select and use safety equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and operational procedures
- 1.4 Test fuel for contamination, quarantine as required and report to relevant personnel
- 1.5 Implement environmentally sustainable work practices, where feasible
- 1.6 Calculate mass, volume and special requirements of packaged fuel products
2 Perform refuelling operations
- 2.1 Monitor refuelling operations and rectify faults as required, in accordance with operational procedures
- 2.2 Deliver fuel products as required, to meet task requirements
3 Finalise refuelling operations
- 3.1 Shut down, maintain and pack away refuelling equipment
- 3.2 Compile refuelling documentation in accordance with operational procedures
- 3.3 Issue other fuel products, as required
- 3.4 Refurbish refuelling site in accordance with operational procedures
