Description
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required for the coordination of a network and/or system. Networks and/or systems may be interconnected, remote or isolated.Power generation operators will manage varying levels of network and/or system complexity across facilities, as well as the networks and/or systems that exist within an individual facility's plant and equipment. Competency in this unit requires the ability to plan network and/or system operations, coordinate network and/or system, respond to network and/or system faults or incidents and complete all documentation. Individuals will, in general, work as an operator with coordination responsibilities in network and/or system control in a power generation facility. Power generation plant operators are trained and authorised to isolate, prepare plant and issue permits to work.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Plan and prepare network/system operations
- 1.1 Information and documentation are identified, assessed and evaluated in accordance with network and/or system requirements and workplace procedures
- 1.2 Work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations, legislative requirements, codes of practice, manufacturers’ recommendations and specifications, environmental requirements and workplace procedures are identified, applied and monitored
- 1.3 Network and/or system and associated equipment operational prerequisites are determined in accordance with workplace procedures
- 1.4 Work priorities are determined to suit network and/or system circumstances in accordance with workplace procedures
- 1.5 Network and/or system limitations and performance are identified in accordance with workplace procedures
2 Coordinate network/ system
- 2.1 Network and/or system is operated in accordance with workplace procedures
- 2.2 Network and/or system demand is monitored to ensure the quality of supply and to maintain stability and system integrity in accordance with workplace procedures
- 2.3 Network and/or system load shedding sequence and priorities are monitored in accordance with workplace procedures
- 2.4 Network and/or system corrective actions to rectify deviations are implemented following analysis of data in accordance with workplace procedures
- 2.5 Resources to meet network and/or system requirements are identified and coordinated in accordance with workplace procedures
- 2.6 Network and/or system operations are carried out in consultation with team members in accordance with workplace procedures
3 Respond to network/system faults
- 3.1 Causes of abnormal network and/or system operating conditions are identified in accordance with workplace procedures and technical and operational information
- 3.2 Operation of protection for network and/or system is identified and assessed to evaluate the nature and cause of fault conditions in accordance with workplace procedures,
- 3.3 Communication is established with key stakeholders to identify the nature and source of network system interference in accordance with workplace procedures
- 3.4 Corrective action is taken in accordance with workplace procedures
- 3.5 Network and/or system integrity and safety are maintained with personnel, technical and operational documentation, including contingency plans, in accordance with workplace procedures
4 Complete documentation
- 4.1 Network and/or system problems, movements and status is reported in accordance with workplace procedures
- 4.2 Documentation is updated in accordance with workplace procedures
