Description
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to connect and disconnect reefer units in accordance with workplace requirements as part of work activities in the stevedoring, transport, distribution and allied industries.It includes plugging and unplugging reefer units to/from power sources, attaching and detaching reefer units, and identifying and reporting any problems with reefer unit operation.Work is performed under some supervision generally within a team environment.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Plug/unplug reefer units to power sources
- 1.1 Appropriate personal protective equipment is selected and used
- 1.2 Reefer units are plugged/unplugged safely in accordance with workplace procedures
- 1.3 Reefer units are checked to be running correctly after being plugged in
- 1.4 Problems with the operation of reefer units are identified and reported to appropriate personnel in accordance with workplace procedures
- 1.5 Faults in reefer units are investigated and reported in accordance with workplace procedures
- 1.6 Reefer units are unplugged as required and cables are cleared from units
2 Attach/detach units
- 2.1 Units are attached/detached safely in accordance with regulatory and code of practice requirements, and workplace procedures
- 2.2 Problems with the operations of units are identified and reported to appropriate personnel
