Description
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to use digital imaging equipment in the field.It includes planning and preparing for work, locating and investigating infrastructure failures, cleaning up site and equipment, and finalising tasks.This unit applies to those using digital imaging equipment in the field, interpreting data and reporting infrastructure failures to relevant personnel. Those undertaking this unit would work independently under indirect supervision while performing routine tasks with a moderate level of complexity in familiar contexts.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Plan and prepare work
- 1.1 Determine work requirements from work instructions and pre-work inspections according to organisational requirements
- 1.2 Identify hazards, assess risks and implement control measures
- 1.3 Select and check equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) to meet safety requirements of task and site
- 1.4 Identify area of network main to be investigated and consult with plans to determine the work area
2 Locate and investigate infrastructure failure
- 2.1 Identify pipe section containing infrastructure issues using digital imaging equipment
- 2.2 Interpret data and report to relevant personnel
- 2.3 Discuss planning and remediation activities
- 2.4 Report findings according to workplace procedures, as required
3 Cleanup site and equipment and finalise tasks
- 3.1 Inspect and check equipment for faults according to workplace procedures
- 3.2 Dispose of waste materials according to workplace procedures, as required
- 3.3 Restore the worksite according to workplace procedures
- 3.4 Complete and submit workplace records according to workplace procedures
