Description
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to monitor and control drainage operations.It includes inspecting drainage systems, monitoring flows and controlling and operating processes. It also includes identifying faults, gathering data, interpreting technical information and operating technical equipment.This unit applies to those working as field staff with a responsibility for inspecting and reporting faults in drainage systems and for operating, integrating and regulating drainage system processes. Those undertaking this unit would work under appropriate supervision, while performing routine tasks ensuring minimum damage to the environment, in a familiar context.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1 Inspect drainage systems
  • 1.1 Schedule and conduct routine inspections of drainage systems
  • 1.2 Undertake risk assessment at worksite according to workplace procedures
  • 1.3 Monitor faults and organise remedial action
  • 1.4 Collect and report data on drainage system performance and usage according to workplace procedures

  • 2.2 Monitor flows in drains to ensure correct drain operation

  • 3.1 Control flows to maintain parameters of operation
