Description
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to detect and rectify faults with automated channel regulators.It includes determining problems with operating automated water regulating devices used in irrigation and stock and domestic supply systems. It also includes collecting data, finding and fixing problems and compiling operational reports.This unit applies to those working as part of an irrigation delivery team with duties to maintain and rectify faults in automated regulating devices. Those undertaking this unit would work under appropriate supervision performing routine tasks in a familiar context.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1 Prepare work
  • 1.1 Undertake risk assessment at worksite according to workplace procedures
  • 1.2 Identify and access fault records from workplace systems
  • 1.3 Interpret and categorise fault information according to workplace procedures
  • 1.4 Schedule and prioritise actions for repair of faults
2 Rectify the faults of regulating devices
  • 2.1 Use systems to assist in rectifying faults
  • 2.2 Inspect faulty device and determine problems and solutions
  • 2.3 Undertake regulator repairs to rectify faults according to workplace procedures and safety requirements
  • 2.4 Check operating conditions of the regulating device meet manufacturer specifications
3 Finalise work
  • 3.1 Notify operational team of the state of repair work and operating conditions of regulating device
  • 3.2 Complete and file reports of repair according to workplace procedures
  • 3.3 Liaise with stakeholders according to workplace procedures
