This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to apply the site risk management system in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries.This unit is appropriate for those working in supervisory roles. 1. Plan and prepare to provide information to the work group
  • 1.1 Access, interpret and apply risk management documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
  • 1.2 Clearly and concisely explain risk management compliance documentation
  • 1.3 Provide documents and reference information for risk management policies, procedures and programs in an accessible manner
  • 1.4 Maintain risk management communication through regularly providing clear information about identified hazards and the outcomes of risk assessment and control
2. Apply and monitor participative arrangements
  • 2.1 Explain the importance of effective consultative mechanisms in managing risk
  • 2.2 Conduct and monitor consultative procedures for management of hazards
  • 2.3 Promptly deal with issues raised through consultation
  • 2.4 Record and promptly communicate the outcomes of consultation of risk management issues
3. Apply and monitor the procedures for providing training
  • 3.1 Systematically identify risk management training needs
  • 3.2 Make arrangements, in consultation with relevant individuals, to meet risk management training needs
  • 3.3 Provide learning opportunities, and coaching and mentoring assistance to achieve training needs
4. Apply and monitor procedures for identifying hazards and assessing risks
  • 4.1 Identify and report hazards and risks
  • 4.2 Coordinate others to routinely carry out hazard identification and risk assessments
  • 4.3 Select and implement actions from hazard reports promptly
5. Apply and monitor the procedures for controlling risks
  • 5.1 Maintain standard for risk management and apply procedures for controlling risks using the hierarchy of controls
  • 5.2 Consider potential risks and plan for their management
  • 5.3 Identify and report inadequacies in existing risk control measures
  • 5.4 Monitor outcomes of reported inadequacies to ensure a prompt response
