Description
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to interpret permaculture systems possible for a site, contrast the differences between permaculture systems and conventional methods, and communicate the permaculture system to stakeholders.The unit applies to individuals who work under broad direction and take responsibility for own work, including limited responsibility for the work of others. They use discretion and judgement in the selection and use of available resources, and complete routine activities.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1. Interpret information from permaculture system designs and specifications
- 1.1 Obtain documents and design criteria for a permaculture system
- 1.2 Interpret and extract information relevant for stakeholders' understanding
- 1.3 Access and investigate information to supplement planning documents
2. Check permaculture system options from site data and observations
- 2.1 Identify permaculture system options
- 2.2 Visit site and investigate and observe site conditions using primary and secondary data sources
- 2.3 Verify primary and secondary data with possible design options
- 2.4 Verify that permaculture principles embedded in design options are consistent with site conditions
3. Contrast and compile information on permaculture systems for stakeholders' information
- 3.1 Identify different permaculture systems suitable for site
- 3.2 Identify key characteristics of each system
