Description
This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to perform hydrostatic and continuity testing of petroleum hoses.It includes preparing for and performing fuel hose testing process, and finalising test procedures.This unit applies to persons working as petroleum operators in Defence but is applicable to any individual in this field of work.The skills and knowledge described in this unit must be applied within the legislative, regulatory and policy environment in which they are carried out. Organisational policies and procedures must be consulted and adhered to.Persons undertaking this unit work independently and as part of a team under supervision, and perform routine tasks in a range of contexts.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Prepare for testing process
  • 1.1 Interpret and apply relevant industry standards, industry and safety requirements relating to hydrostatic and continuity testing of petroleum hoses
  • 1.2 Inspect and test equipment for serviceability prior to operations in accordance with manufacturer specifications and operational procedures
  • 1.3 Apply hydrostatic safety requirements to conduct continuity testing process
  • 1.4 Select and fit relevant personal protective equipment
2 Perform fuel hose tests
  • 2.1 Perform continuity tests to meet task requirements
  • 2.2 Perform hydrostatic tests to meet task requirements
  • 2.3 Conduct secondary tests where accuracy is in doubt or abnormal results obtained
3 Finalise test procedures
  • 3.1 Record and report test results in accordance with operational procedures
  • 3.2 Classify and label hoses in accordance with test results
  • 3.3 Quarantine and report hoses that fail test standards to relevant personnel
