Description
This unit describes the skills required to conduct military demolition operations. This unit can apply above and below the high water mark.This unit applies to those required to identify, test and prepare explosives, accessories and equipment, to place and fix explosive charges and to initiate them on lawful command in order to demolish/damage military targets.The skills and knowledge described in this unit must be applied within the legislative, regulatory and policy environment in which they are carried out. Organisational policies and procedures must be consulted and adhered to.Those undertaking this unit would work independently as part of a team, under indirect supervision. They would use discretion and judgement and take responsibility for the quality of their outputs while performing specific tasks in a broad range of contexts that could be unpredictable.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Prepare service explosive accessories and equipment
- 1.1 Identify, segregate and protect explosives and explosive accessories
- 1.2 Test explosives, accessories and equipment
2 Prepare and fire a military demolition using service explosives and accessories
- 2.1 Assemble explosive charges and associated equipment
- 2.2 Attach explosive charges to military targets
- 2.3 Assemble firing circuits and initiation means
- 2.4 Apply precautions to protect against accidental initiation or damage
- 2.5 Conduct state of readiness change procedures and drills
- 2.6 Apply procedures granting authority to fire a military demolition
3 Finalise the military demolition
- 3.1 Inspect demolition site to ensure all explosive items have been initiated
- 3.2 Maintain and/or refurbish site/equipment
- 3.3 Maintain documentation and records
