This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to investigate and present information on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander culture compared to other cultures. It involves investigating impact of cultural differences on the daily life of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities.The unit applies to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander individuals who wish to gain greater understanding of the impact of belief systems and culture.This unit requires support of Elders or Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community members.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1. Investigate culture
  • 1.1 Identify significant elements of culture with input from Elders or Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community members
  • 1.2 Identify differences between Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultures and other cultures
2. Investigate belief systems
  • 2.2 Discuss belief system of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities with input from Elders or community members
  • 2.2 Identify impact of belief systems on daily life
  • 2.3 Record information in required format
3. Investigate and record impact of cultural differences
