Description
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to manage in-vehicle technology distractions.This includes performing pre-start checks to minimise in-vehicle technology distractions andimplementing strategies to minimise in-vehicle technology distractions. Safe vehicle driving behaviours are applied without supervision. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Perform pre-startchecks to minimise in-vehicle technology distractions
  • 1.1 Drivers' cabin is set-up and organised to minimise technology distractions in accordance with workplace policies and procedures
  • 1.2 Drivers' cabin technology is started and checked in accordance with manufacturer instructions, workplace policies and procedures
  • 1.3 Faulty equipment or damage is detected and reported in accordance with workplace policies and procedures
  • 1.4 Lighting is adjusted and obstructions to accessing technology are removed in accordance with workplace policies and procedures (where relevant)
2 Implement strategies to minimise in-vehicletechnology distractions
  • 2.1 Relevant road rules, workplace policies and procedures for managing technology distractions are complied with
  • 2.2 Low risk driving strategies to minimise technology distractions are applied
  • 2.3 Technology alarm, alert or warning is responded to in accordance with relevant road rules, workplace policies and procedures
  • 2.4 Potential causes of distraction are identified and actions taken to minimise their effects in accordance with workplace policies and procedures
