Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to commission/recommission plant in the resources and infrastructure industries. It applies to those working in supervisory roles. They are generally responsible for the output of others, contribute to the development of technical solutions to non-routine problems and apply management plans to the workplace.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Plan and prepare to commission/recommission plant
- 1.1 Obtain, interpret and confirm work requirements
- 1.2 Access, interpret and apply documentation required to commission/recommission plant
- 1.3 Identify, address and report potential risks, hazards and environmental issues and implement control measures according to workplace procedures
- 1.4 Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for the work activity
- 1.5 Access, interpret, confirm and apply design process principles
- 1.6 Identify and confirm the purpose of the plant and equipment
- 1.7 Confirm the design meets the identified purpose
2. Participate in hazard and operability studies
- 2.1 Identify and confirm existing process and procedures that apply to hazard and operability studies
- 2.2 Participate in a hazard and operability study
- 2.3 Undertake investigations following hazard study
- 2.4 Record and process written reports on findings according to workplace procedures
3. Participate in acceptance of plant/equipment
- 3.1 Undertake pre-commissioning activities
- 3.2 Complete pre-commissioning documentation according to workplace procedures
- 3.3 Identify, record and report problems or non-conformances to relevant personnel
4. Conduct test runs/trials
- 4.1 Conduct trials/test runs according to workplace procedures
- 4.2 Record performance data and process written reports according to workplace procedures
5. Evaluate results and identify modifications
- 5.1 Identify and record modifications and recommended improvements
- 5.2 Complete written documentation and communicate to relevant personnel according to workplace procedures
