Description
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to monitor and coordinate catchment operations.It includes inspecting and monitoring catchment areas, monitoring flows and coordinating catchment processes. It also includes collecting data and samples, monitoring and adjusting regulatory systems, identifying and investigating catchment problems and producing technical reports.This unit applies to those working as field staff with a specific responsibility for monitoring and coordinating catchment operations. Those undertaking this unit would work under appropriate supervision while performing routine tasks ensuring minimum damage to the environment, in a familiar context. The level of responsibility may vary according to the size and complexity of the catchment area.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1 Inspect and monitor catchment operations
- 1.1 Schedule routine inspections of catchment areas to identify water quality risks
- 1.2 Collect, analyse and report catchment data according to workplace procedures
- 1.3 Collect and record water samples according to workplace procedures
- 1.4 Monitor and report on activities within the catchment area
- 1.5 Select, fit and use required safety equipment, including personal protective equipment
2 Monitor inflows and outflows
- 2.1 Inspect flow regulating systems and determine required adjustments to meet demand
- 2.2 Identify and report flows into, and conditions of, catchment areas
3 Operate and coordinate catchment processes
- 3.1 Identify, address and report problems within catchment areas to relevant personnel
- 3.2 Monitor and coordinate processes to maintain the parameters of operation

- 4.1 Review and action investigation results according to workplace procedures
