Description
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to establish and maintain effective industry partnerships to improve work health and safety performance, to achieve legislative compliance and to educate and assist stakeholders to improve workplaces.This unit applies to those working independently to develop partnerships within industry to improve compliance with legislation. Those undertaking this unit work independently, performing complex tasks in a range of familiar contexts.The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Identify industry partners.
- 1.1. Evaluate options for industry partnerships in terms of likely effectiveness and determine potential partners.
- 1.2. Establish communication with partners to explore viability of partnership.
- 1.3. Negotiate and establish the nature and duration of partnership.
- 1.4. Define and agree upon respective roles and activities of partnership.
2. Undertake partnership activities.
- 2.1. Develop, agree and document a plan for cooperative partnering.
- 2.2. Develop and incorporate options and specific proposals for improving performance in workplace legislative compliance.
- 2.3. Implement options in accordance with partnering plan.
3. Monitor and review partnering activities.
- 3.1. Evaluate effectiveness of partnering activities.
- 3.2. Use evaluation results to modify outcomes of joint activities.
- 3.3. Communicate value, effectiveness and outcomes of partnering arrangements to internal and external clients.
